UV water filtration, disinfection without chemicals
On well water, safety is your job, not the city’s. A UV disinfection system neutralizes bacteria and viruses in the water as it flows, no chemicals, no taste change, no storage tank of doubt.
How ultraviolet disinfection works
Water passes a UV lamp in a polished chamber, and the light scrambles the DNA of bacteria, viruses, and parasites so they cannot reproduce, which is to say they cannot make you sick. It happens at flow rate, adds nothing to the water, and removes nothing but the risk. For wells, it is the cleanest disinfection there is, and health departments agree.
The catch is that UV only works on clear water, shadows protect microbes, so a proper install always pairs the lamp with sediment filtration ahead of it. We size the chamber to your peak flow so contact time holds even with two showers running.

Wells, cisterns, and after-the-scare installs
Most of our UV work rides on well systems around the rural High Desert, installed either as insurance or after a bad coliform test made the insurance argument for us. Cistern and storage-tank setups get the same treatment where hauled water is part of life further out. After any positive test, we can shock-chlorinate the well and plumbing, then install UV so the scare stays a one-time story.
Lamp changes are annual and take minutes the way we plumb them, and the system alarms when the lamp weakens rather than failing silently. Pair with testing on a schedule and the well stays provably safe.

Questions we actually get
Does UV treatment change how water tastes?
Not at all, it adds nothing and removes nothing except the ability of microbes to reproduce. Taste and odor issues are carbon’s department, and the two stages stack cleanly when you want both.
Is UV enough by itself on a well?
It needs clear water to work, so sediment filtration ahead of it is mandatory, and it does nothing for dissolved problems like nitrates or arsenic. Think of UV as the safety stage inside a treatment train designed from your test results.
How often does the lamp need replacing?
Annually, the light weakens long before it burns out, and a weak lamp disinfects on paper only. Ours are plumbed for a minutes-long swap and the ballast alarms when output drops, so there is no silent failure window.
What happens if the power goes out?
No power, no disinfection, which is why well systems get the conversation about interlocks or simply not drinking during outages. We set your system up so its status is obvious at a glance, never a mystery.
My well tested positive for coliform. What now?
Do not panic and do not drink it untreated. We shock-chlorinate the well and lines, retest, and install UV so it cannot happen quietly again. It is a solved problem out here, and the fix usually lands within the week.
