Where carbon fits in your treatment train
Carbon is stage two of almost every good system: sediment first so the carbon bed does not silt up, carbon for chemistry and taste, then softening and point-of-use stages as your water demands. It also protects everything downstream, softener resin and RO membranes both live dramatically longer behind a carbon stage that has already eaten the chlorine.

Before you even call
Will carbon filtration make my water safe to drink?
Your city water is already disinfected safe; carbon removes the leftover disinfectants and byproducts along with taste and odor. For dissolved solids, metals, or well-water concerns, the treatment train needs more stages, and testing tells us which.
What is the difference between regular and catalytic carbon?
Catalytic carbon is processed to break down chloramines, the stubborn chlorine-ammonia compounds some districts use. If your district runs chloramines, standard carbon underperforms, which is why we check before we spec.
How long does a carbon tank last?
Typically three to five years of media life at household flow, depending on your chlorine load, then a rebed rather than a whole new system. We put the honest interval in writing, and backwashing models stretch it further.
Will it help my skin and hair?
Chlorine strips oils, and desert air finishes the job, so yes, whole-house carbon is the shower upgrade people feel fastest. A week in, most customers report the winter itch easing and hair behaving better.
Can I just use a filter pitcher instead?
For one glass at a time, sure. But your showers, laundry, and appliances drink most of the water in the house, and a pitcher does nothing for them. Whole-house carbon treats the 99 percent the pitcher never sees.
