Barstow water, filtered for what is in it
Desert-hard water leaves scale on everything, and old galvanized pipe adds rust from the inside. A filter fixes part of that, so we test the water first and build the system around the results.

What comes out of a Barstow tap
Barstow water is hard: white crust on faucets, spots on glasses, scale in the water heater. Where galvanized supply still runs through older walls, the pipe concentrates it and adds rust, so the first glass of the morning can run tinted.
A filter or a softener
They do different jobs. A filter removes what you taste and smell, plus sediment. A softener handles hardness, the minerals behind scale. Most Barstow homes are choosing between them or pairing a filter with water softener installation.
The whole house or one tap
A point-of-entry system treats every drop entering the house, usually with tanks in the garage like the pair pictured above. A drinking-water system sits under the kitchen sink and serves one faucet.
What a complete install includes
This outdoor job shows the parts that matter. Water passes the sediment prefilter in the blue housing first, which catches grit, then the media tanks where the real treatment happens, and the ultraviolet unit above treats it last.
The part you cannot see is the bypass, so the system can be serviced without shutting off the house. That is how we approach water filtration system installation across the High Desert; more finished work is in our gallery.

Test first, then choose the system
Sample the water
We start with water testing so hardness and sediment get measured instead of guessed.
Match media to results
Carbon, sediment, ion exchange and ultraviolet each answer a different problem. A stage the water does not need is wasted money.
Size for your flow
A tank sized too small drops pressure at the shower. We size to how many people and fixtures the house runs.
Plan the upkeep
Before we leave, you know which cartridges get changed and where the bypass valves sit.
Rusty morning water is often the pipe talking
If the water runs rusty each morning and then clears, the rust is likely coming from galvanized pipe inside the walls, and a filter at the entry cannot touch it. We say so and show you what repiping would involve beside the filter you asked about. Anywhere in Barstow, you get that straight answer.
We would rather lose a filter sale than sell equipment that cannot fix the problem.

What people ask before filtering Barstow water
Will a filter remove hardness?
Mostly no. Hardness is dissolved minerals, and pulling them out is a softener’s job. If scale is your main complaint, a softener or a filter and softener pair fits better.
Whole-house system or just a kitchen filter?
It depends what bothers you. Taste in drinking water may only need a kitchen system. Sediment at every fixture or a smell in the shower points to whole-house treatment.
What does the ultraviolet unit do?
It exposes passing water to ultraviolet light, which disables bacteria and similar organisms. It removes no minerals, so it sits last, after the sediment and media stages.
Will a whole-house filter lower my water pressure?
A properly sized one should not be noticeable. Undersized tanks or a clogged prefilter cut flow, which is why we size for your household and show you the prefilter.
Why test the water before buying anything?
Because the right system depends on what is actually in your water. A test keeps you from paying for stages you do not need and catches what taste would miss.
What is a bypass for?
It is a set of valves that routes water around the system. With one, a filter change happens while the house still has water. Without one, everything shuts off.
My water runs rusty in the morning. Will a filter fix it?
Probably not, if it clears after a few seconds. That pattern points to corroding galvanized pipe inside the house. We check first and tell you before you buy anything.
How often do the filters need changing?
That depends on your water and how much the household uses. Sediment prefilters load up fastest on gritty water, so we set a schedule from your test results.
Find out what your water needs first
Tell us what you see at the tap, whether that is scale, a taste or rust in the morning. We test the water, walk you through the results and hand over a firm price for the system that fits your house.
