A faucet dripping onto the granite, or a drain that takes all evening to empty. Kitchen calls in Barstow start at the sink and end underneath it, where old stops and stub-outs decide the size of the job.
What sits under the cabinet decides the job
A top-mount stainless sink with a pull-down faucet, like the one pictured above, is a clean swap when the parts below cooperate. Under plenty of older Barstow sinks they do not. Shutoff stops seize, the galvanized stub-outs coming out of the wall have rusted thin, and the trap and drain arm are a patchwork left by past owners.
So we open the cabinet first. Stops that turn and stubs that hold keep it a faucet job. If they crumble at the wrench, we replace them back to sound pipe, because a new faucet threaded onto a rotten stub-out is simply the next leak. Disposals
A new garbage disposal hangs from the sink flange and ties into the drain arm. We check the trap height so the disposal and the dishwasher both drain downhill.
Dishwashers
A dishwasher installation takes a hot supply off the sink stop and a drain loop up under the counter, with a supply line that cannot kink when the machine slides back in.
Ice makers
An ice maker line runs from its own stop to the refrigerator, with enough slack to roll the fridge out for cleaning.
Slow drains and grease
Grease cools inside the drain arm until water stands in the basin. We clear it with proper drain cleaning and show you where the blockage sat.
Desert-hard water shows up at the kitchen tap first
White crust builds on the aerator and the pull-down spray starts to sputter. Barstow’s hard water does the same to the faucet cartridge until it grinds when you turn the handle. Kitchen sink questions we hear in Barstow
Can you install a faucet I bought myself?
Yes. We check that it fits the sink holes and the deck first, and if the stops underneath need replacing, you hear that before we start.
Does an undermount sink change the plumbing?
The hookups underneath stay the same. The sink sits differently in the counter, so the countertop installer is usually part of that job as well.
Why does my kitchen faucet still drip after a repair?
Most newer faucets seal with a cartridge, and hard water scales it until it leaks. A new cartridge usually ends it. If the faucet body is pitted too, a new faucet is the better move.
My disposal hums but will not turn. Is it finished?
Not always. Switch the power off and keep your hand out. Something jammed in the grinding plate is common, and a reset often frees it. If the motor is done, we replace the unit.
Where should the dishwasher drain go?
Into the disposal or the sink tailpiece, through a high loop or an air gap so dirty sink water cannot run back into the machine. We set whichever suits your cabinet and counter.
How far can an ice maker line run?
Far enough for most kitchens. We run it from its own shutoff and coil a little slack behind the fridge, so the refrigerator rolls out without straining the fitting.
Will a drinking-water filter fix hard water?
It improves taste and smell at that one tap. It does not soften the house. If scale is your main complaint, a softener is the bigger fix, and we will explain which one fits.
Can you work on a restaurant kitchen without shutting us down?
That is how we prefer it. Commercial kitchen work gets scheduled before opening or after close, and the line answers around the clock Monday through Saturday if something fails mid-shift.
