Three honest ways to fix a slab leak
Once the leak is located, there are three real options. Open the slab at the marked spot and repair the pipe, which is right when the line is otherwise healthy. Reroute that single line overhead through walls and attic, skipping the slab entirely, which is frequently cleaner and cheaper than people expect. Or, when the leak is the third one in five years, stop paying for the same failure and repipe the house.

Why slab leaks happen here
Most local slab leaks are soft copper from the seventies through the nineties failing from inside: hard water and slightly aggressive chemistry pitting the pipe wall until a pinhole opens. Slab movement in expansive and sandy soils does the rest, rubbing lines against gravel until they wear through. One pinhole under a slab can push out hundreds of gallons a day, silently.
That is why a warm floor spot or an unexplained bill jump deserves a same-week look, and why our repairs favor materials and routes that do not repeat the failure.

What are the signs of a slab leak?
A warm spot on the floor means a hot line is leaking below it. Add a jumped water bill, damp carpet edges, the sound of running water with everything off, or low pressure, and the picture is fairly clear. The meter test confirms it in minutes.
Do you have to break the slab to fix it?
Not always, and not blindly. A precise locate means any slab opening is small and surgical. Frequently the smarter fix is rerouting that line overhead so the slab never gets touched. We price both and recommend honestly.
Is a slab leak covered by homeowners insurance?
Often the resulting damage is covered while the pipe repair itself is not, but policies differ. Our locate report and photos document everything your adjuster needs, and landlords tell us the paperwork is half the value.
How urgent is a slab leak really?
Urgent. The water is going somewhere: under flooring, into the pad, up the drywall. Every week adds damage that costs more than the plumbing. Same-week detection is the cheap version of this story.
