If your aerators fill with grit, your fixtures fail young, or your well kicks sand after every windstorm, you need the first stage of all water treatment: sediment filtration that catches particles before they cost you money.
The bodyguard stage
Sediment filtration is simple and thankless: spin-down separators and graded-depth cartridges that catch sand, rust flakes, and scale particles before they reach anything expensive. It is the stage that protects every other stage, softener valves, carbon beds, RO membranes, and the house itself: fixture cartridges, appliance solenoids, and the tankless heat exchanger that hates grit almost as much as it hates scale.
We size sediment stages to your flow and your particle load, with clear housings where useful so you can see what it is catching, and pressure gauges that say when a cartridge is loading up.

City lines, wells, and construction dust
City water here is mostly clean until a main breaks or a hydrant flushes, then a slug of rust and sand goes through every unprotected house on the block. Wells are their own weather system, kicking sediment with the water table and the wind. And any neighborhood with active construction gets line disturbance as a bonus. A sediment stage turns all of it into a cartridge change instead of a plumbing repair.
On wells we typically stack a spin-down ahead of depth cartridges through our whole house filter work, so the big stuff never reaches the fine stuff.

Straight answers first
How do I know I need sediment filtration?
Unscrew a faucet aerator and look: sand and grit in the screen is your water announcing it. Gritty toilet fill valves, fast-failing fixture cartridges, and visible particles in a settled glass all say the same thing.
What is a spin-down filter?
A centrifugal first stage that spins heavy particles out of the flow into a clear chamber you can flush with a valve turn, no cartridge to buy. On sandy wells it is the workhorse that makes every downstream filter last.
How often do sediment cartridges need changing?
Entirely load-dependent: quarterly on a sandy well, yearly or more on clean city water. The pressure gauges we install take the guessing out, when the drop climbs, the cartridge is full. We show you how to read it in ten seconds.
Will a sediment filter fix cloudy water?
If the cloud is particles, yes, and a settled-glass test tells us. If the cloud is dissolved minerals or air, it will not, and we will say so and point at the right stage instead of selling the wrong one.
Can sediment really damage my plumbing?
Steadily. Grit scores valve seats, jams solenoids on washers and dishwashers, wears fixture cartridges, and settles into water heater tanks to cook. One cheap stage at the main is the whole defense.
