A tub is the heaviest fixture in the house and the one that punishes sloppy setting the longest. We install and replace bathtubs and surrounds with the bedding, leveling, and valve work done right.
Setting a tub the way it should be set
A tub that flexes when you stand in it was set on air instead of a mortar bed, and every flex works the drain seal and the caulk lines toward failure. We bed tubs properly, level them dead-on, and anchor the flange so nothing moves. The drain and overflow get assembled with quality gaskets and tested with the tub full, the test that matters, because a tub leak shows on the ceiling below on its own schedule.
The photo on this page is a finished install of ours: tub, surround, and valve trim in a clean line. What you cannot see is the mortar bed and the tested connections, which is the point.

Plan on paper first
Drain routes, venting, and capacity decide what a design can do. We flag the expensive moves while they still cost nothing.
Rough in precisely
Valves at finish depth, drains on slope, supplies secured. The finish trades build on our accuracy, so it has to be exact.
Test before walls close
Pressure on the supplies, flow on the drains, photos for your file. Nothing gets sealed in unproven.
Trim out and commission
Fixtures set, appliances connected, everything run while you watch. The punch list ends at zero.
Surrounds, valves, and the honest options
We set tub surrounds that seal properly around the flange, and while the wall is open the valve gets the same treatment as our shower installs: pressure balance at minimum, set at the right depth, with fresh supplies. Replacing a sixties cast iron tub? We handle the demo and the surprises under it, and there are usually surprises, subfloor repair included.

How the High Desert changes this job
The tub-and-surround combo in the photo is a standard High Desert refresh: the tract-home tubs of the eighties are crazing and their valves are done, and one coordinated visit replaces the whole wet wall. Landlords use exactly this package between tenants.

Straight answers first
How long does a bathtub replacement take?
Typically two to three days: demo and surprises on day one, setting and plumbing on day two, surround and finish after. Old cast iron adds demolition time, and we quote the honest schedule with the firm price once we have seen the bathroom.
Why does my current tub creak and flex?
It was set without a mortar bed, common in fast tract construction, and the flexing is slowly working the drain seal loose. The permanent fix arrives with the replacement: a properly bedded tub does not move for decades.
Can you install a walk-in tub for accessibility?
Yes, including the drain modifications and fast-fill valve work they need. We will also tell you honestly whether a walk-in tub or a curbless shower serves the need better, because they solve different problems at different prices.
Do you test for leaks before finishing the walls?
With the tub full and the drain working, every time, plus pressure on the supply side. A tub leak announces itself through the ceiling below months later, so the only acceptable test happens while everything is still open.
Tub or shower for resale value?
Keep at least one tub in the house if you can, families with small kids look for it, and convert the rest to showers freely. We are happy to talk through the layout before you commit either way.
