Water Softener Installation

Victorville, CA · Mon to Sat: Open 24 Hours(877) 233-1033

Water softener installation for the hardest water in California

Scale-crusted fixtures, cloudy glasses, stiff laundry, dying appliances: High Desert hardness does all of it. A properly sized softener ends it at the main line, and we install them to be serviced for the long haul, never sold and forgotten.

Sized to your water and your household

A softener is a simple machine that gets ruined by wrong sizing: too small regenerates constantly and burns salt, too large wastes money and water. We size from two real numbers, your tested grains of hardness and your household’s actual usage, then set the regeneration honestly so the system runs efficient from day one.

The photo on this page is our install: softener and brine tank set clean in a garage, copper loop dressed, bypass valved, drain to code. Twenty minutes of extra care at install is a decade of easy service.

How the job goes

1

Test the actual water

At your taps, with lab panels where stakes are high. The numbers drive everything that follows, never a brochure.

2

Design the treatment train

Sediment, carbon, softening, RO, or specialty stages, only what your water argues for, with honest annual costs attached.

3

Install to be serviced

Bypass loops, isolation valves, and labeled stages, so every future filter change takes minutes instead of a service call.

4

Retest and prove it

Post-install numbers in your hand, and a maintenance schedule that keeps them true. Treatment without proof is faith.

What changes the first week

Soap lathers again and rinses clean, glasses come out of the dishwasher clear, the shower door stops growing its white crust, and laundry softens without chemical help. Less visibly, every appliance that touches water, the heater, the dishwasher, the washing machine, stops accumulating the scale that was aging it double-time. In our water, a softener is appliance insurance that happens to feel like a nicer house.

Prefer salt-free conditioning or curious about the difference? We explain both honestly, including where each one genuinely fits, through our ion exchange work.

How the High Desert changes this job

Water from Victorville to Yucaipa routinely tests 15 grains and up, several times what anyone calls hard back east. It is why water heaters here fail years early and why the softener conversation is not an upsell up here, it is arithmetic.

Correct the first time

More than sixty years of combined plumbing experience works on these jobs, and it shows in fewer return trips. A crew that has seen a problem many times diagnoses it faster and goes after the cause, so the symptom does not come back. Handle and A.O. Smith certifications keep the work up to code. You pay the number agreed on before we started, and if our own fix fails, the return visit costs you nothing.

We don’t come back to fix the same thing twice. It’s correct the first time.

“Ruben came out promptly, took the time to walk me through the current issues I was facing, and explained the different options available. He did an excellent job, hauled away the old unit and left the area spotless.”

Straight answers first

How do I know what size softener I need?

Tested hardness times daily household usage gives the real number, and we test rather than assume. Most High Desert families land in the 40,000 to 64,000 grain range, but wells and big households push higher. Sizing from a guess is how softeners disappoint.

How much salt will it use?

A correctly sized, correctly programmed unit uses far less than the horror stories, typically a bag or so a month for an average family. We set regeneration by demand, not by timer, which is where most of the waste hides.

Does softened water taste salty?

No, properly softened water adds a trace of sodium far below taste threshold. For drinking and cooking, most customers add a reverse osmosis tap at the kitchen sink, which polishes taste to bottled-water level and removes the trace sodium besides.

Can you replace my dead softener with a better one?

Yes, and the autopsy is free: most dead softeners up here were undersized or never reprogrammed after installation. We size the replacement correctly, reuse sound plumbing where it exists, and haul the old unit off.

Will a softener help my tankless water heater?

Enormously. Scale is the number one tankless killer in this water, and a softener upstream stretches descaling intervals from yearly to every few years while protecting the heat exchanger. The two purchases belong together up here.

Emergencies get answered by a plumber, not a queue. Scheduled work gets a window we actually hit. Either way, the fix holds.
