The little quarter-inch line behind your fridge has flooded more kitchens than any pipe its size. We install ice maker and fridge water lines properly: copper or braided stainless, a real valve, no saddle taps, no gambles.
Why the cheap way fails
The classic fridge-line disaster is a self-piercing saddle valve clamped onto a pipe, feeding thin poly tubing pinched behind the fridge. The valve seat clogs and weeps, the tubing hardens and splits, and the failure runs silently behind cabinets for days. We do not install saddle valves, ever. You get a proper tee with a quarter-turn shutoff, quality line rated for the job, and routing that survives the fridge sliding in and out.
The connection at the fridge gets tested, the line gets flushed to protect the new filter, and the first bucket of ice is on us to admire.

Diagnose honestly
Rebuild or replace gets decided by the fixture’s bones, not by the biggest invoice. Plenty of visits end cheaper than the caller feared.
Install on sound connections
New supplies, working shutoffs, sealed drains. The connections behind the fixture matter more than the shine on it.
Run it while we watch
Full cycles, full flushes, dry floors confirmed. Old fixtures and packaging leave with us.

Ice and coffee are where you taste your water. Runs from a reverse osmosis system to the fridge turn desert tap water into clear, clean ice and stop the mineral crust inside the ice maker. We run those dedicated lines cleanly, sized so the fridge fills at full rate.

Hard High Desert water cakes ice maker valves and molds cloudy cubes; an RO feed is the local cure and the difference is visible in one tray. On slab homes here, fridge lines route through cabinets and walls rather than under floors, and we plan them so they stay serviceable.

Before you even call
What is wrong with the saddle valve the last guy installed?
They pierce the pipe with a needle seat that clogs and weeps by design, which is why most jurisdictions no longer allow them. If you have one, replacing it with a proper tee and shutoff is cheap prevention against the classic behind-the-fridge flood.
Copper or braided line to the fridge?
Either done right beats poly done cheap. Copper is permanent and kink-proof in walls; braided stainless handles the fridge-moving flex zone well. What matters most is a real valve and routing that nothing pinches.
Can you connect my fridge to filtered water?
Yes, a dedicated run from an under-sink reverse osmosis system to the fridge is a favorite upgrade: clear ice, better-tasting water, and no more scale crust in the ice maker. We size it so fill rates stay strong.
How long does an ice maker line take to install?
Usually one to two hours depending on the routing distance and what walls or cabinets sit between the water source and the fridge. Firm price after we see the run.
Should the fridge line have its own shutoff?
Absolutely, within reach, not buried behind the unit. When a fridge line fails, you want a quarter-turn stop you can reach in seconds. It comes standard on every line we install.
